Funded by UKRI, CONFAP and CPnQ, this c.£950k research project explores the links between social-biodiversity and the bio-economy, focusing on how traditional communities play a vital role in sustaining fragile ecosystems. Located in the Brazilian Amazon, it works with marginalised communities to strengthen their political and economic agency, enabling them to assert control over their lands and resources.
Over the next three years, it brings the University of Leicester together with 11 Brazilian research institutes and brings together critical social-science insights into to research on biodiversity, landscapes and ecosystems. It underscores the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the climate crisis.
